Memories: Josh Blough, Class of 1996 (blough.joshua@gmail.com) Frs. Campell (his love for children), Cassidy (his super-speedy masses!), and Peridotto (his little VW Beetle). Practicing organ in the church balcony every day during lunch recess, and playing organ for every weekday morning mass as my 'payment' for use of the church organ. (I took private organ lessons at the Catholic high school and had progressed beyond the limitations of our 'home model' organ.) Our 3rd grade homeroom, in the basement of the parish community building...yuck! Mrs. Donath - the best English teacher ever; gave me a great foundation for success! Switching to school uniforms in 5th grade. (I wish my kids' school would wise up and move to uniforms...) Colleen Baxter Thompson, Class of 1978 (gridiot@yahoo.com) I attended Blessed Sacrament School in 6th and 7th grades in the early 1950s and have wonderful memories of my experiences there. I was taught by the Ursuline Sisters, truly great women! Are any Sisters still left at Blessed Sacrament? It is good to know that your great parish and school continue the tradition that Blessed Sacrament has always had. I remember Msgr. Tarrant in his declining years. My family lived at 2320 S. Whittier in those years. We were a Granite City family and returned to GC after two years in Springfield. I live in San Francisco and still return to the midwest to visit my family in the St. Louis area. We vacation annually at Devils Lake Wisconsin and always stop in Springfield on our way up I-55 for a visit to Blessed Sacrament. James Reinhardt, jrein@sbcglobal.net I am a BSS Alum Class of 1993. I was just wondering if there are ever any reunions or anything like that? Please email me if there is. Owen Brown, blitzkrieg_68@hotmail.com Please keep Heather Gonet and her family in your thoughts and prayers. She was an amazing young girl and will be greatly missed. Heather & Skie Piatchek I loved watching the Living Stations of the Cross on Friday. It was so touching to see seventh graders perform them and be so reverent while performing them. I hope that everyone else who saw them liked them too. I am VERY sad to hear of the passing of Miss Child. She was a women with courage, stood up for what she believed, had a unique sense of humor and cared for each person as if they were her own friend or even child. She will be VERY missed by alot of people. I was proud to have worked with her on the Pastoral Council and as a fellow employee. She was truly a bright figure in my life. Jeremy Welch We are all so sad about Miss. Child's death. However, we know that she is in a better place than us. I would like to take a moment to ask everyone in the parish and school to pray for her and/or think about her every day. She truly made a difference at Blessed Sacrament School. PROUD TO BE A PART OF SUCH A WINNING TEAM! GREAT SCHOOL SPIRIT AND SUPER VOLLEYBALL TEAM! GO BRUINS! HAPPY CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK ! ! Mrs. Harris I think BSS is the greatest school ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Everyone needs to attend the volleyball game so we can get the Spirit award again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO BRUINS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The SOUPer BOWL is going on in January. Bring in as much soup as possible! If your classroom brings in the most soup, then your classroom and another one will have the final show-down. Other classrooms will be able to root for a classroom participating in the last round. Don't forget to make up a name for your classroom, even though most classrooms already have a name. The seventh grade really appreciates you bringing in soup! So, don't forget to bring in soup!!! BSS IS THE BEST GO BRUINS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Eighth Grade IESA Girls basketball team (2006) is going to win STATE!!!! They are awesome! What's up? It's Schofie. I'm just inviting all the 7th and 8th graders to the Ursuline Academy Open House this Thursday night. Doors open at 6:00, starts at 6:30. You will even get the opportunity to hear the Ursuline Madrigals perform for your listening pleasure. Again, Thursday night, 6:30. Hope to see people there. -Schofie The 8th grade girls basketball team is going to win STATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi. I'm from the graduating class of '04. Some of you may remember me.
Anyway, I'm just dropping by to see how things are going. We need more BSS kids
at Ursuline. We had four from the previous graduating class, including Aaron.
Come to Ursuline, forget SHG.lol, jk. Anyway, go BSS! I am a parent who has a new student at BSS...he is a 5th Grade student in Mrs. Valdez's class...his name is Grant Wallace. We are very excited to be a part of BSS...Grant LOVES it at BSS!!!! Karla Wallace I really like BSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go bruins!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =) But I think there should be a school newspaper. There would be one page for each grade. It would come out every month and it would be for the students instead of the parents (parents get the weekly newsletter). People in 6 through 8 grades would be the newspaper staff. I think it will enforce school spirit. It would also be fun to read! I'd like to say good bye to Gracia Harrison and Maya Knight!! We all miss you guys like sooooooooooo much!! Thanx for being with us!! Miss ya!! Gracia Hey y'alls! It's Gracia once again, and I wanted to say congrats to Mrs.Keller (my homeroom teacher) on her baby, and I think BSS is the best school ever, all my friends are great, and so are the teachers. I really like going to school here, and I hope I'll be back for 7th and 8th grade here!!! Bye!!! Your Web site is awesome BSS!!! You have lots of great pictures of current
things going on at school. It seems very user friendly and informative. As
someone who has been gone for 4 years now (!!!), it's great to check in with the

I attended mass on Thursday morning. I really enjoyed watching the school children with your priest in your beautiful church. This brought back memories of when I taught in a cathlolic school. I really miss that time in my life. It is such a rewarding experience teaching in a catholic school. Thank you for the lovely morning. This is the most awesome school ever. Go here! The teachers are amazing and so is our Scholastic Bowl team. Like i said, this school is amazing as well as the web site. Keep it up. P.S. I'm an eighth grader in Mrs. Pierce's 2006 class. The pix of the teachers when they were young is the BEST!!! ELIZABETH GO BRUINS! You are awesome! I am an alumni, grandma, and Basketball fan. Lauren, Luke, and Will Reiser are my special grandkids. I am in 9th grade now and i was just wondering what ever happened to Mrs. Lucas, i had her in 2nd grade... :) Kate I*m an 8th grade student and just wanted 2 say.... R 8Th GRADE BBALL TEAM IS AWESOME 2nd in state baby! WHOOOO!!!! the fans r Great 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The website looks awesome ... it is an advanced website in comparison to many other schools. You all can be very proud of how you represent the school on the Web. We miss the BSS family and haven't found the same school spirit since. Brent and all of us would move back in heartbeat. I hope everyone knows how lucky they are have to have such a wonderful school at an incredibly inexpensive price. Example: Chicago suburbs $250/mo for one child and $550 for 3 or more. Here in Texas is $500 for one child and w/5% discount for siblings it is almost $2000 per month for children at the Catholic Elementary school. So feel very blessed! Oh we have box tops etc... to send off to you! Laura Moral (laurajudd1@yahoo.com) Laura, Just a short note to say 'thank you' once again to the Builder's Club and their participation in the Shamrock Campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The Blessed Sacrament Parish community has been one of the strongest supporters of our family and this is just another example of the generous hearts that make the parish a wonderful place to praise God. I was looking for a place to sign the guestbook.
I attended BSS from K(1983) until third grade when my family moved to TN. My
brother is an alumni of BSS class of 1982 I think, Charles Schuchardt. (He was
a student of Mrs. Mosley's) He is currently serving our country in Kuwait and
we would appreciate the prayers of our BSS family during this time of
uncertainty. My family has many fond memories of our times at BSS.

WOWSERS! some teams are still NOT on here, and their seasons done.. lets not direct our attention right to the girls cause they won state..mmk Thanks bye Like I've said before, I can only put pictures
on the website if I am given the pictures to use. Please bring your
pictures in to the school office and I will be happy to add them to the website
provided that I have the proper permission forms. the trophy case that was bought for the 8th grade class of 2000 is being over taken by the 7th grade girls' trophy. as a class we find it insulting that because we are not attending bss anymore our spirit and achievements are being brushed aside. when the 7th grade girls won state they should have gotten their own trophy case instead of taking over the one that they 8th grade boys worked so hard to achieve. Katie E. My mom went to this school and her name is Becky Evans. If you would like to reach her than please e-mail me and I will give you her e-mail address. Thanks Hi this Kendra F. in 4th grade and I was looking at the pictures are so neat! Thank you so much for making this awesome web site! the 8th grade boys are Important too ya know Lets go 8th grade boys... add some more hardware to our trophy case Hey 7th grade boys you did a great job at regionals! Too bad the 7th grade boys didn't win the Regionals. They played a great game against Christ the King and came pretty close. Good job guys! Kendra F. i just wanted to say BSS GIRLS YOU ARE AWESOME! we are so proud of you! second is way good enough for us! Congratulations girls!! I am so very proud of you and the hard work and dedication that it took on your part and on the part of your coaches and parents to go so far and play so well. Being # 2 in the State of Illinois is a great accomplishment. If you live life as well as you have played basketball you will do great things. May God continue to bless you on this journey. Fr. John '01 GRAD CONGRATS 8TH GRADE GIRLS!! GOOD LUCK IN STATE- WE'LL BE ROOTIN 4 YA! I was just wondering what the date of the 8th grade dance, awards night and graduation are? Please direct all questions to our email address so that we may answer you directly. I have added the dates of these events to our calendar. Way to go girls!!! State here we come???? GOOOOOOOOOOO bruins! lets root on the 7th grade boys team!!!!!!! oh and 8th NOBODY COMES TO OUR GAMES!!! I was just wondering why our school does not make such a big deal about the girls cross country team going to state as they did for the basketball teams? I mean is cross country not as big of deal as basketball? And last year for the track season we had someone from our school WIN state yet there was not barley the amount of attention showed towards her as there was when the basketball teams won state. I think that we need to make sure we are not being unfair to certain teams. Your comments would be better directed to our athletic director or principal, however, I will pass them on for you. We are very proud of our track and cross-country stars and certainly don't want them to feel slighted. Another comment on this subject - Jeremy Welch I think this is great! keep up the good work :)! Why did you take the state cross county pictures off the website????????????????????? I was as surprised as you were as to where they had gone. They disappeared off the state page - I can't explain it. Sometimes I lose things when I move them around (Don't ask me where my keys are!). I got them back on, though probably not exactly like they were on before. You can find them at http://www.bssbruins.org/Athletics/Cross%20Country/ccstatemeet.htm Mike Harth Sharon, Just saw the website... excellent job! This is a great asset to the school and parish. Keep up the good work, it is much appreciated. Mike (intense parent of #43) Daren Perrero What a FANTASTIC JOB on the Halloween Carnival Page. The animations are wonderful!! Jeremy Just wanted to say that i am very excited to see that Kathi Stapleton and Mary Pohlman will be working at B.S.S. I hope they both love it! Where's the baseball pics for the team this year?? I was wondering the same thing. No one has brought any in to me this year. I want this website to highlight all of our school events but I am unable to attend everything. I rely on others to bring in pictures of the events that I miss. If you have pictures, please scan them in and put them on a disk or bring them in to the school office and I will scan them. It would help if you write a short article about the pictures as well. Thanks. ~Mrs. Schraeder 01 Graduate This school has an alumni association? You must have received our new alumni newsletter. This first issue was a cooperative project by many associated with the school. Look for another issue in November or December. Paul Millburg I'm a visitor, I'm also a former co-worker of principal Mrs. Walker. I was very pleased to hear when Mrs. Walker was hired as principal last summer! I'm certain that she did and will continue to do the best for the parish, the faculty and the students! Best of luck on the upcoming school year and kudos on a great web site! When is the school going to post what class we are in? The class lists will be posted in the school gym on August 11 & 12 after Masses. This is also when back-to-school packets should be picked up. 8th grade boys summer basketball team i would just like to let everyone know that the Incoming 8th grade boys basketball team is 3-1! thats their best start of all time!!!!!!!!! Katie Salvo I know Mary and Patrick Sheehan.. they are my cousins. Todd Helm Sharon: You do an excellent job on the website! When are we supposed to get our graduation pictures? some people have already gotten theirs and i don't know where to get mine since the office already closed. also some of us haven't gotten our report cards! Are you just going to mail them to us? thank you! 8th grade student class of 01 Sorry for the confusion. Students were asked to pick up their pictures and report cards in the school office by June 15th. Many students did not so they are being mailed out today (July 12). If you still have not received them, please contact the school office. Name : Daren Perrero We wanted to let everyone with the School Council, The Builders Club, classmates and the whole of the parish community how much it means to us to see the support that was generated for this years "Shamrock" campaign. It was great to see the shamrocks on the wall of the gym as well as throughout the Springfield community. It is for reasons exactly like this that we consider ourselves blessed to be a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish and fortunate enough to have our children enrolled at the parish school. Thanks for your continued efforts and support. Below is press release from the National program that I wanted to share. Daren Perrero DONATE A SHAMROCK, HELP FIGHT MUSCULAR DYSTROPHY TUCSON, Ariz., March 8, 2001 - Millions of Shamrocks Against Dystrophy participants will "share the green" in time for St. Patrick's Day and help the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Continuing an 18-year MDA tradition, patrons across the country are each donating $1 to the fight against neuromuscular diseases by buying and signing shamrock mobiles at thousands of supermarkets, convenience stores, restaurants, gas stations and other retailers. The nation's largest charitable campaign associated with St. Patrick's Day, Shamrocks Against Dystrophy in 2000 raised more than $10 million through the efforts of volunteers, participating businesses and donors. "This special campaign provides a marvelous way of supporting MDA's lifesaving research and service programs that benefit families, such as summer camps and clinics," singer/actor Maureen McGovern, national chairperson of Shamrocks Against Dystrophy, said. Hey BSS!!! sup??? n2m here just letting you know that this is a radical web site and that it is so groovey!! I just want to tell you that I was an 8th grader last year and I think you should put some more pictures up of the 8th graders because I am friends with some of them and they were mad because someone put only the science fair listings and not the history fair entries so that is all I wanted. Bye!!! flower power dude. I will work on getting the information about the history fair. Pictures of this year's science fair were given to me today (Wed. 3/21) and I will try to add these to the site soon. (Glad you think this website is groovy.) ~ Mrs. Schraeder Hey BSS!!! I think you need to have Snowflurries again. I don't know if you just haven't had yours this year but I hope you do there is still time!! If you have one I can come in help so I hope you have one soon they are great programs. I have a question about the pancake and sausage breakfast. can the 8th graders work there for service hours?? Please reply and tell me who to call and if we can. Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A volunteer form was sent home to everyone to sign up to help. Call Mrs. Witsman and see if she still needs to fill some spots. Next time - please send me your name and email address so I can send you a direct response. LAURA S. GREAT JOB TO THE SEVENTH GRADE GIRL FOR WINNING STATE!!!!!!!!!! #1 THE PICTURES FOR EVERYTHING LOOK GREAT MRS. S. GOOD JOB EIGHTH GRADE BOYS I would just like to say that the history and science fair were a great success. The history fair had many excellent projects. Who ever did the Hawthorn Place did an excellent job. I sincerely think they should go on to regionals. It was on of the best there! :0) They were all outstanding though! You are right. All of the projects were outstanding! It appears that you are a little biased about the Hawthorn Place project. Too bad you didn't leave a name so that the person who did the project would know who their biggest fan was. :-) Jeremy Welch - Alumni 1997 Man! Wish we had Casmir Pulaski day off when we went to school here...;) I do remember getting St. Paddy's day off because of Fr Cassidy..that was cool......Anyway, I hope this year we get a reunion~!:) The website gets better and better each coming week! WTG Sharon Schraeder! :) Woohoo! Congrats to the athletics! You don't get unnoticed, and if any guys are reading this, give my sister Jennifer a big ole hug! HA..she would be so embarrassed. Joe Stannard I really enjoy the site. There is always plenty of new content. I especially want to compliment the site photographer. Maybe the principal or a faculty member can discuss on the site programs being considered or curriculum issues such as the realignment of the social studies. I love this site. I REALLY want to congratulate the 8th grade IESA Boys Team! They had a GREAT year! Their final record was 17-4! Who Let the Bruins Out? They were on FIRE this year! First the 7th grade IESA Girls won and now the 8th grade IESA Boys won! They SHOULD HAVE WON against Edinburg. I think (MY OPINION ONLY) that it isn't fair that the 8th grade IESA Boys played EDINBURG at EDINBURG with EDINBURG refs! Edinburg, Edinburg, Edinburg! Thank You For Your Time! Is there any more 7th grade basketball boys pictures? Yes, there are more pictures. I can't include most of them because I don't have permission slips from several of the boys. I am a parent and would like to comment on how great Catholic Schools Week was this year. I've heard only good things about the whole week. Thank you to everyone who helped pull it all together! Way to go 7th grade girls and keep going 8th grade and two 7th grade boys! By the way, do you know where the design was picked up for the girls shirts? THAT DESIGN IS AWESOME The shirts were designed by Mrs. Walker. She will be glad to hear you liked them! I would just like you to know that Michael Wasser not David Wasser is on the IESA 8th Grade Boys Regional champion team! You have it wrong in your Friday letter!!!!! I am so sorry that I had your name wrong, Michael. I will correct in online and in next week's letter. Sorry!! ~Mrs. Schraeder Hi. I am an 8th grade student here at Blessed Sacrament and I was just letting you know that I like looking at all of the pictures. I think we should have some pictures of volleyball. We have a great team and I think we should show it. Also I think that the 8th grade boys are GOING ALL THE WAY TO STATE!! WE LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM NO MATTER IF THEY WIN OR LOSE!! Please bring some pictures of volleyball in for me and I will scan them in to put on the site. I will TRY to make it to one of your games with the digital camera - but I can't promise you.
Don't worry - the boys' trophy is out getting the engraving done. It will be back soon! As you can see, the trophy is back and occupying its place in the 'wall of champions'. We hope to need a bigger hole in the wall soon! Nancy Evans I am a parent. I love the pictures you continually keep updated. What a great idea to put the teachers picture in. Do you have any of the 7th grade play? Keep up the great work. Thanks. The pictures from the 7th grade play can be found on the Classroom Activities page or www.bsps.org/bssweb/WildcatKatieBrown.htm Congratulations to the 7th grade girls IESA state team! Go Bruins! I think that (if you have time) should get pictures of the boys 8th grade IESA team! They are going to go all the way this year! Nice Site! Keep up the great work! Comments: Mrs. S.....would you please put BOYS BASKETBALL PICTURES ON THE SITE??????? Most of the pictures that I have on the website are pictures that I have taken at school or during school events. Due to my family commitments, I have not been able to make it to any of the boys' games this year. Do you have some pictures that I can borrow? I would be happy to scan in some pictures to use on the website. In order to use any pictures of students on the site I must make sure that I have parental permission to do so. ~ Mrs. Schraeder Name: Daren Perrero Comments: If the faculty and staff are willing, a photo of each would be a nice addition to the faculty staff page. I've been interested in reading the weekly newsletter "blurbs" about each of the teachers as well. Perhaps you could include those as well. You guys are doing a great job on the web pages. Keep up the good work. I will check with the teachers and see if they would mind having their pictures posted. We're glad you like the little bios on our teachers. We actually tried to include pictures in the Friday letter but found that they didn't print out very well. Comments:Great to see the championship game news and pix, especially so soon. The boys played with a focus and maturity that was exciting to watch. More importantly, they played as a TEAM. I am very happy that they, and those BSS fans who witnessed their pursuit of this goal, have this memory to keep. I'm certain that the men who coached this team, who have put in all the hours that they have, are so proud they could pop. They deserve to be. I don't thank God for this victory, but I do thank him for the elation and pride that this team allowed Blessed Sacrament to feel. CommentsWhat I think is that this is a wonderful resource for many people but not if it isn't kept up to date! There is not anything regarding music and it looks like this web site has been here for a while! CommentsCongratulations Blessed Sacrament 8th Grade Boys Basketball team! You're the greatest.
