8th- Playing basketball with Shea and Rechner after school.
other: Hot lunch (never getting it and wishing I could); fun day was awesome; riding my bike to school; Going to church and singing too loud with the boys; Going to confession; Being an alter boy; having the summers off to swim and play baseball; playing with my younger bro's; Playing and having a great time without a worry in the world, except when I was going to go to Pease's. Good times Buddy and much more.

Frs. Campell (his love for children), Cassidy (his super-speedy masses!), and Peridotto (his little VW Beetle). Practicing organ in the church balcony every day during lunch recess, and playing organ for every weekday morning mass as my 'payment' for use of the church organ. (I took private organ lessons at the Catholic high school and had progressed beyond the limitations of our 'home model' organ.) Our 3rd grade homeroom, in the basement of the parish community building...yuck! Mrs. Donath - the best English teacher ever; gave me a great foundation for success! Switching to school uniforms in 5th grade. (I wish my kids' school would wise up and move to uniforms...)

I attended Blessed Sacrament School in 6th and 7th grades in the early 1950s and have wonderful memories of my experiences there. I was taught by the Ursuline Sisters, truly great women! Are any Sisters still left at Blessed Sacrament?

It is good to know that your great parish and school continue the tradition that Blessed Sacrament has always had. I remember Msgr. Tarrant in his declining years. My family lived at 2320 S. Whittier in those years. We were a Granite City family and returned to GC after two years in Springfield.

I live in San Francisco and still return to the midwest to visit my family in the St. Louis area. We vacation annually at Devils Lake Wisconsin and always stop in Springfield on our way up I-55 for a visit to Blessed Sacrament.

I am a BSS Alum Class of 1993. I was just wondering if there are ever any reunions or anything like that? Please email me if there is.

Please keep Heather Gonet and her family in your thoughts and prayers. She was an amazing young girl and will be greatly missed.

I loved watching the Living Stations of the Cross on Friday. It was so touching to see seventh graders perform them and be so reverent while performing them. I hope that everyone else who saw them liked them too.

I am VERY sad to hear of the passing of Miss Child. She was a women with courage, stood up for what she believed, had a unique sense of humor and cared for each person as if they were her own friend or even child. She will be VERY missed by alot of people. I was proud to have worked with her on the Pastoral Council and as a fellow employee. She was truly a bright figure in my life.

We are all so sad about Miss. Child's death. However, we know that she is in a better place than us. I would like to take a moment to ask everyone in the parish and school to pray for her and/or think about her every day. She truly made a difference at Blessed Sacrament School.

The SOUPer BOWL is going on in January. Bring in as much soup as possible! If your classroom brings in the most soup, then your classroom and another one will have the final show-down. Other classrooms will be able to root for a classroom participating in the last round. Don't forget to make up a name for your classroom, even though most classrooms already have a name. The seventh grade really appreciates you bringing in soup! So, don't forget to bring in soup!!!

The Eighth Grade IESA Girls basketball team (2006) is going to win STATE!!!! They are awesome!

I was in Springfield last week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. I attended mass on Thursday morning. I really enjoyed watching the school children with your priest in your beautiful church. This brought back memories of when I taught in a cathlolic school. I really miss that time in my life. It is such a rewarding experience teaching in a catholic school. The website looks awesome ... it is an advanced website in comparison to many other schools. You all can be very proud of how you represent the school on the Web.

We miss the BSS family and haven't found the same school spirit since. Brent and all of us would move back in heartbeat. I hope everyone knows how lucky they are have to have such a wonderful school at an incredibly inexpensive price.

Example: Chicago suburbs $250/mo for one child and $550 for 3 or more. Here in Texas is $500 for one child and w/5% discount for siblings it is almost $2000 per month for children at the Catholic Elementary school. So feel very blessed!

I was very impressed with the bsps website. It was fun, as a parishioner, to learn more about the school and its activities. Megan will be in my prayers, as well as all of you.
I am interested in how the students are doing in math, particularly. Perhaps it would be useful to invite the parish to tune into this website via the church bulletin. Could you please put the pictures student council board took at the beginning of the year on the school camera on the website! and could you at least list the board members there is nothing whatsoever about student council yet builders club has its own section........

the trophy case that was bought for the 8th grade class of 2000 is being over taken by the 7th grade girls' trophy. as a class we find it insulting that because we are not attending bss anymore our spirit and achievements are being brushed aside. when the 7th grade girls won state they should have gotten their own trophy case instead of taking over the one that they 8th grade boys worked so hard to achieve.

I was just wondering why our school does not make such a big deal about the girls cross country team going to state as they did for the basketball teams? I mean is cross country not as big of deal as basketball? And last year for the track season we had someone from our school WIN state yet there was not barley the amount of attention showed towards her as there was when the basketball teams won state. I think that we need to make sure we are not being unfair to certain teams.

Your comments would be better directed to our athletic director or principal, however, I will pass them on for you. We are very proud of our track and cross-country stars and certainly don't want them to feel slighted.

Another comment on this subject -
I think that people are more interested in basketball because it is more of a spectator sport. Can you name the winners of the track events in the Olympics? How about who won the last NBA Championship?

I was as surprised as you were as to where they had gone. They disappeared off the state page - I can't explain it. Sometimes I lose things when I move them around (Don't ask me where my keys are!). I was wondering the same thing. No one has brought any in to me this year. I want this website to highlight all of our school events but I am unable to attend everything. I rely on others to bring in pictures of the events that I miss. If you have pictures, please scan them in and put them on a disk or bring them in to the school office and I will scan them. You must have received our new alumni newsletter. This first issue was a cooperative project by many associated with the school. Look for another issue in November or December.

I'm a visitor, I'm also a former co-worker of principal Mrs. Walker. I was very pleased to hear when Mrs. Walker was hired as principal last summer! Sorry for the confusion. Students were asked to pick up their pictures and report cards in the school office by June 15th. Many students did not so they are being mailed out today (July 12). If you still have not received them, please contact the school office.

We wanted to let everyone with the School Council, The Builders Club, classmates and the whole of the parish community how much it means to us to see the support that was generated for this years "Shamrock" campaign. I just want to tell you that I was an 8th grader last year and I think you should put some more pictures up of the 8th graders because I am friends with some of them and they were mad because someone put only the science fair listings and not the history fair entries so that is all I wanted. I would just like to say that the history and science fair were a great success. The history fair had many excellent projects. Who ever did the Hawthorn Place did an excellent job. I sincerely think they should go on to regionals. It was on of the best there! :0) They were all outstanding though!

You are right. All of the projects were outstanding! It appears that you are a little biased about the Hawthorn Place project. Too bad you didn't leave a name so that the person who did the project would know who their biggest fan was. :-)

Man! Wish we had Casmir Pulaski day off when we went to school here...;) I do remember getting St. Paddy's day off because of Fr Cassidy..that was cool......Anyway, I hope this year we get a reunion~!:) The website gets better and better each coming week! I really enjoy the site. There is always plenty of new content. I especially want to compliment the site photographer. Maybe the principal or a faculty member can discuss on the site programs being considered or curriculum issues such as the realignment of the social studies.

I love this site. I REALLY want to congratulate the 8th grade IESA Boys Team! They had a GREAT year! Their final record was 17-4! Who Let the Bruins Out? They were on FIRE this year! First the 7th grade IESA Girls won and now the 8th grade IESA Boys won! They SHOULD HAVE WON against Edinburg. I think (MY OPINION ONLY) that it isn't fair that the 8th grade IESA Boys played EDINBURG at EDINBURG with EDINBURG refs! Edinburg, Edinburg, Edinburg! Thank You For Your Time!

Hi. I am an 8th grade student here at Blessed Sacrament and I was just letting you know that I like looking at all of the pictures. I think we should have some pictures of volleyball. We have a great team and I think we should show it. Also I think that the 8th grade boys are GOING ALL THE WAY TO STATE!! WE LOVE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM NO MATTER IF THEY WIN OR LOSE!!

Hello. I am a former graduate of BSS and I was in 8th grade with the boys that won state. The trophy case that used to have all their things in it such as the ball, the trophies, and the net, I now see that it has been taken over by the 7th grade girls. I am very happy for those girls but they need to share the trophy case. They shouldn't have it all to their self. I think all people that win state should share that trophy case and not take it over. Don't worry - the boys' trophy is out getting the engraving done. It will be back soon!

As you can see, the trophy is back and occupying its place in the 'wall of champions'. We hope to need a bigger hole in the wall soon!

Most of the pictures that I have on the website are pictures that I have taken at school or during school events. Due to my family commitments, I have not been able to make it to any of the boys' games this year. Do you have some pictures that I can borrow? I would be happy to scan in some pictures to use on the website. In order to use any pictures of students on the site I must make sure that I have parental permission to do so. ~ Mrs. Schraeder

I've been interested in reading the weekly newsletter "blurbs" about each of the teachers as well. Perhaps you could include those as well. You guys are doing a great job on the web pages. Great to see the championship game news and pix, especially so soon. The boys played with a focus and maturity that was exciting to watch. More importantly, they played as a TEAM. I am very happy that they, and those BSS fans who witnessed their pursuit of this goal, have this memory to keep. I'm certain that the men who coached this team, who have put in all the hours that they have, are so proud they could pop. They deserve to be. I don't thank God for this victory, but I do thank him for the elation and pride that this team allowed Blessed Sacrament to feel.

I agree that we need to see more activities that are going on in each classroom. I LOVE the pictures from the state tournament games. These have drawn a lot of visitors to this site that wouldn't have checked it out otherwise.
