Dear BSS Students,

Warm greetings from the island of Bahrain!

This note comes to you with deep gratitude for all your goodness to me and gratitude to God for the chance to journey together for six years.  I am a much better person because you are in my life.  There are many things that I brought with me which remind me of you and the time we shared.  Sometimes these things make me sad that I am so far away, but mostly thankful to God for you and your goodness.

As a priest for the Navy my work is much like being in Springfield.  There are long hours to work and many people to care for.  Please pray for them - and for me that I may serve well.

The weather has cooled down - the highs each day are in the 90s.  Each day was over 100 the first month here.  Since arriving September 10th the world has changed.  God still provides and makes everything even bad things work for our good.  Please know that the men and women of the Navy, Marines, Air Force and Army are working very hard to keep our nation free.  You would be proud of them.  They sure make me feel good to be an American.

The CD enclosed will show you a little bit about the island nation of Bahrain where I am stationed.  The map shows where my apartment is.

You and your families remain in my daily prayers.

God bless you always.

Love,
Fr. John C. Burnett
